509,677. Making envelopes &c. WINKLER, A. Jan. 21, 1938, No. 34787. Convention date, June 2, 1937. Divided out of and addition to 509,617. [Class 94 (ii)] The apparatus disclosed in the parent Specification, is modified in that after traversing the printing mechanisms and the suction roll 29<1>, the blanks may be arranged, if desired, in steppedformation between slow-moving belts 35, 36 for the step-gumming by a gumming device 46, before being taken up by the drying belts 48, 49. In this event, the profile-gumming device acts as a feed system only. If profile-gumming, as in the parent Specification, is required, the gumming device 46 is put out of action and the belts 35, 36 act as transfering belts. The belts 48, 49 run a trifle faster than the belts 35, 36, which are moved by a variable-speed mechanism.
