Chimney and ventilating-shaft tops. - A chamber b<1> discharging into passages b<2> with open ends d', d<2> surrounds the outlet of a shaft a<2>, and partitions a<3> with a top cover a<4> and curved shields a<6> are arranged in the shaft. The passages b<2> may have splayed mouths b<3> and sloping floors and roofs c<5>, c<3> respectively to facilitate draining, perforations also being made in the bottom c<1> of the chamber b<1> and in the sides of the passages b<2> above the roofs c<3> for this purpose. Perforated screens may be placed across the ends of the passages b<2> and across the openings to the chamber b<1>. The shaft, outlet is as high as or higher than the tops of the passages b<2>.
