9518. Lake, W. E., [Hinde & Dauch Paper Co.]. April 22. Slitting, cutting, and severing in papermachines. - Paper or paper-board may be cut into sheets of any desired length, during manufacture, by means of a rotary knife-bar H driven at a variable speed, from the feed of the strip A, through a chain L, cone pulley mechanism O, a train of gears Q, and elliptical gears R. The knife-bar H is adjustably mounted on one of the elliptical gears R, so that the speed of rotation of the knife-bar may be adjusted to the speed of the paper or board during the cutting operation.
