Abstract

8979. Suzan, H. April 16. Hand - iron handles.-Detachable handles are fastened to the body of the iron by a catch C, Fig. 1, or a sliding bolt, controlled by a rod A placed below the handle and extending between the standards. The rod may take the form shown at N, Fig. 2, which, on being pressed upwards, engages inclined surfaces on the catches H, I, or operates a pair of sliding bolts which may be substituted for the catches. A plate of metal F covered with asbestos G prevents the heat from affecting the hand of the user.
