Abstract
7449. Cocks, W. H. March 27. Turning-gear.-A spring contained within a drum 2 is wound up by a hand-actuated-friction pawl and is held by another friction pawl (not shown). The inner end of the spring is attached to a double clutch member 9, 11, the portion 11 of which normally engages a fixed clutch member 12. At starting, a cam 13 carried on an extension of the spring drum, and engaging a fixed cam 14, is rotated by a lever 15 to disengage the clutch 11, 12 and engage the clutch 9, 10, of which the portion 10 is fixed upon the engine shaft.
