Abstract

7169. Rheinische Metallwaaren-und Maschinenfabrik. April 5, 1911, [Convention date]. Gun cartridges; projectiles. - Relates to shot cartridges having combustible shot - envelopes, and consists in combining with such envelopes a time fuse of known type, so as to ignite the envelope during flight, the fuse being enclosed in a metal cap open at the rear. In the form shown in Fig. 4, a represents the combustible shot-envelope, and b the fuse composition, enclosed in a metal cap c open at the rear, and adapted to be ignited by the powder charge d. The rear opening of the cap c causes the fuse to impart a rocket-like acceleration to the shot envelope during flight.
