3847. Guillaume, C. E., and Soc. des Fabriques de Spiraux RÚunies. Feb. 20, 1911, [Convention date]. Balance springs are made from an iron-nickel alloy containing 27-30À5 per cent of nickel, and at least four of the elements, carbon, chromium, manganese, molybdenum, silicon, tantalum, titanium, tungsten, and vanadium. The springs are used with uncut balance wheels, temperature being compensated for by the springs themselves, their elasticity increasing with the temperature. Specification 25,142/97 is referred to.
