Abstract

3371. Davidson, C. I. Feb. 10. Conveying and elevating apparatus; elevated structures carried by pontoons.-Coal, ore, &c. is transferred from a barge to a ship or to the shore by means of a vessel fitted with a combination of bucket elevators and screw conveyers. The barge 1 has an elevator 2 of the bucket-dredger type supported by a derrick 3 and back - stay 4. This elevator discharges through a shoot 6 into a hopper 7. A screw conveyer passes the material from the hopper 7 into the hopper 9 of the second and main bucket elevator 10, which is adjustably supported in guides 11 and moved by a winch and tackle (not shown). The main elevator discharges into a screw conveyer 12 of the type described in Specification 27,629/11, whence the material is passed to the ship.
