Abstract

3348. Singley, R. H. Feb. 9. Filaments; filam e n t s , supports for. - A tubular stem 6<1> is provided with a flange 9<1> around which is spaced concentrically a closed conductor, such as a ring 14<1>, connected to a leading-in wire 7<1> and to a number of radial conducting - anchors 12' having their inner ends fixed in the flange; the other leading-in wire 8<1> being connected to a second conducting support. In the arrangement shown, the support consists of a carbon rod 19 to the lower end of which a number of looped carbon filaments 13<1> are attached. In a modification, for a tungsten or similar lamp, an extension of the tubular stem is provided with a similar flange and ring at its outer end, the filament being wound over both sets of anchors. The ring 14<1> may be split and closed around the flange 9' after securing the anchors 12<1> by soldering, brazing, or otherwise, the anchors being then pressed into the flange while soft or into apertures in the flange and optionally cemented; or the ring may be provided with notches to fit over the anchors.
