Abstract

Filaments, supports for.-In a tubular lamp, straight filament - sections a are connected end to end by a support which stretches them, for instance, by a toggle, Fig. 1, which may be attached rigidly to the lamp tube at e and bear a weight c, or be pulled by a spring at each side; the toggle may be of copper Alternatively, a spring support g, Fig. 4, which may be of nickel or nickel-steel, may be attached to the lamp tube rigidly or by a pivot h. Any number of filamentsections may be used. M u l t i p l e - f i l a m e n t lamps.-In long lamps constructed as described above, the supports connecting the filamentsections may supply current. Filaments, attaching, to the connecting-supports described above and to leading-in wires. Hooks on the filaments engage loops on the wires, or vice versa, without soldering.
