Plastic compositions containing india-rubber, oils, fibres, &c.-A substance to be used in place of vulcanized rubber is made by first boiling rubber shoddy, say 75 parts, in 25 parts of linseed oil or the like, until a glue-like mass is obtained. Three parts or thereabouts of the product are mixed with other materials, preferably in the proportions of 40 parts of shredded leather, 25 parts of ground slate, 15 parts of coke dust, 7 parts of soot, 7 parts of sulphur, and 3 parts of oil. After vulcanizing, the product is powdered and about 60 parts of the powder are mixed with guayule, balata, or the like and sulphur for vulcanization, preferably in the proportion of 14 parts of balata, 1 of recovered balata, 1 of wax, 2 of resin, 6 of sulphur, and 15 of oil or the like.
