Abstract

121,136. Stocks, W. Oct 27, 1917, [Convention date]. Plastic compositions containing india-rubber &c. and resins, oils, and fibres.-A mixture of pure rubber, flour from waste vulcanized rubber, and sulphur, with or without other ingredients, is used in making artificial leather, floorcloth, tyres, &c. The mixture of rubbers and sulphur is calendered into sheets which are used as stock, with which may be mixed other materials such as pontianac, a clear sticky gum, castor oil, ground fibre, white lead, and dissolved resin. The products are vulcanized by a cold or hot process. Thin sheets of the material may be superimposed with the grain produced by rolling arranged alternately at rightangles, and then compacted bv pressure.
