Abstract

2131. Smith, C. S. Jan. 26. Tubular fabrics; paper fabrics; yarns specially treated, fabrics with.-A tubular fabric, which may be used as a conduit for insulating electric conductors, consists of cotton or other soft warps 10 tightly interwoven with helical weft threads 11 each comprising one or more crumpled and twisted strips of thin paper, and when more than one strip is used, they may be laid in layers before being crumpled and twisted. Any number of weft threads may be used, Fig. 1 showing the arrangement when two such weft threads are employed. The fabric or the strands to be woven may be coated or saturated with material for rendering them waterproof or non- combustible.
