Abstract

1571. Whitley, A. A. Jan. 19. Driving and like chains with separate joint pins.-In chains, for use more especially with stentering-machines, of the kind in which the joint-pins are made in two parts 3, 8 of unequal lengths, the part 3 is provided with flanges 1, 2 which close the openings in the outer lugs 6, 7 of the links. The part 3 of the pin is prevented from turning by forming one or both of the flanges 1, 2, and the corresponding opening in the lugs, other than circular. Projections 9 are formed on the part 8 of the pin and engage corresponding recesses of the lug 10 of the adjacent link. In a modified construction, the flanges 1, 2 are circular but are provided with a tooth-shaped projection to engage a similar recess in the lugs.
