Abstract

1227. Swinburne, H. P., and Crawford, G. S. Jan. 16. Chucks; drilling.-In disengaging - drive chucks, the tool-holder itself is disengaged by holding a sleeve 15 attached to a sleeve 1. Figs. 2 and 4, whereupon a pin 11, Fig. 5, attached to the toolholder 6, is forced down a slot 12, thereby disengaging a recess 8 in the tool-holder from a pin 9 on the drill spindle 2. This may be performed automatically at the end of an operation by a sleeve 16 being forced upwards to engage a projection on the sleeve 15. In a modification the pin 9 is dispensed with, a pair of pins work in inclined slots in the sleeve 1, and the drill spindle has a projection engaging a notch in the tool-holder. The inclined slots terminate in vertical slots.
