777. Dawson, Sir A. T., and Buckham, G. T. Jan. 10. Order apparatus is constructed so that the transmitting - switch and the receiving - motor shaft drive indicating-pointers through chain gearing. Step-by-step electro-magnetic motors are employed or the kind having an odd number of pairs of field magnets and an even number of pairs of pole-pieces. The transmitting-switch C gears with the spindle c<2> which, by means of the wheels c<1>, drives the chains C<x>, the pointer C' being attached to the chains and working over the marked plate A<2>. The switch is in circuit with a motor c' at the transmitting- station and a motor B at the receiving-station. The shaft of the receiving-motor carries wheels b<1> which actuates the chains B<x> carrying the pointer B'. The transmitting and receiving apparatus are similarly constructed, the switch C at the receiving-station being actuated to send back the same signal to the motor B at the transmitting-station. The receiving-apparatus is also provided with a gong to give warning of a signal. The apparatus is described as for signalling the direction in which a torpedo is to be launched or its gyroscope set.
