Abstract

415. Williams, P. E., and McPhee, N. Jan. 5. Charging.-A rotary projector apparatus for charging retorts &c. is so formed that the materials are fed in at one side of the apparatus, then traversed laterally by the projector, and finally discharged at the other side. The construction shown comprises a pair of conical projectors a mounted on a common shaft b to rotate on opposite sides of stationary partannular plates c spaced apart by a distance about equal to the width of a retort. Disks d having peripheral openings masked by the plates c may be provided to keep the materials longer in contact with the projector. A modification is described in which the projectors discharge on to an endless travelling band driven at a speed not less than the peripheral speed of the projector. The apparatus is mounted on a travelling frame and can be elevated to different heights to suit the various levels of retorts.
