Abstract
28,062. Radford, W. Dec. 13. Chain, and belt gearing; tension arrangements.-An arrangement of chain or similar transmission gearing suitable for use on internal - combustion engines comprises a triangular chain drive between the engine crankshaft A, the cam shaft B, and an idler D, the idler conveying the drive by a separate chain J to the magneto or other accessory shaft H. The idler D is carried by a plate E adjustably secured to the frame by bolts G passing through wider slots F. To adjust the tension of the chain J, the plate E may be moved radially in relation to the shaft H by means of an adjustable radius-rod K. To adjust the main chain C, the plate E may be moved along the slots F which are arcs about the centre of the shaft H; this adjustment does not affect the prior one.
