Abstract
26,644. Richards, A. Nov. 28. Tin oxide and chloride.-Volatile tin compounds, including tin chloride, are obtained by distilling tin ores, tailings, slag, or scrap, with common salt, and a reducing-agent such as coal, or in the presence of a reducing-gas. Ores containing sulphur or arsenic may be calcined before use, but a small percentage of sulphur may advantageously be left in the ore. An admixture of silica, or a poor tin ore, is preferred in the case of treating rich ores.
