Abstract

Air - tubes. - The socket end 2, Fig. 2, of a butt - ended air - tube is formed by moulding a diaphragm 6 considerably thicker than the walls of the tube integral therewith and set back a suitable distance from one end. The other end is fitted with a cap 3 to form the spigot. The cap is rounded at 4 to seat on the rounded surfaces 7 formed at the junction of the diaphragm and the walls of the tube. The internal diameter of the socket is slightly smaller than the external diameter of the spigot end, and the ends of the tube are chamfered at 8, 5. The tube is moulded on a divided mandrel 9, Fig. 3, the space 10 corresponding in width and position with the diaphragm 6.
