Tyres, pneumatic.-In a divided air-tube having male and female ends 1, 2 with tapered rings 4, 6 attached thereto, so formed that when in position the larger ends abut, as shown in Fig. 1, a flexible rubber sleeve 5 is attached to the male end to cover the joint when made. In place of the sleeve, a rubber ring 5<a> may be fixed to either end and slid over the completed joint. A non-expansive band 7 is incorporated with the thickened female end of the tube to limit expansion at the joint. In addition to the usual external valve seat 9, a further canvas &c. strip 8 is fixed on the inside of the tube. Specification No. 4616, A.D. 1904, is referred to.
