Abstract

Antifrictionwheel bearings. - A circular series of rollers, such as those of a planetary napping - machine, is provided with antifriction bearings comprising outer and inner circular tracks formed on a hoop F and a wheel H, loosely mounted on the main shaft A. The journals c of the rollers E are guided by openings a, b in a head B, which may be flanged at C, rigidly mounted on the shaft A. The rollers are rotated by means of a band passed round pulleys E<2>, and the journals c are free to move radially in the openings b, so that they roll on the outer and inner tracks, or, under centrifugal action, upon the outer one only. The hoop F is provided with a steel lining f. An opening g in the hoop F for inserting the rollers is closed by plug h, Fig. 5, secured by screws i, and a piece j completing the lining f is held by a screw k. The hoop F may be positively driven by a band.
