Hydropathic bandages and pads.-Medical compresses for applying hot fomentations consist of an india-rubber or like waterproof envelope 2, 3, Fig. 1, enclosing a layer of asbestos or like heat-insulating material 1 and faced on one side by a sheet 4 of loofah. The compress may be in the form of a pad for local application, as shown in Fig. 2, or in the form of a boot sock, or may be tubular, as shown in section in Fig. 6, so as to serve as a glove, finger-stall, sleeve, or complete body bag. The tubular appliances are provided with an additional waterproof cover 13.
