Abstract
972,659. Heating appliances; eye shades. W. DUBILIER, and E. G. COTTON. Jan. 29, 1963 [July 10, 1962], No. 3675/63. Addition to 943,512. Heading A5R. A mask or pad for heating the face below the eyes as claimed in the parent Specification includes a sheet 64 of heat-conductive foil to minimize local variations in temperature over the area of the pad or mask. Metal foil having the same shape and size as the laminµ forming the pad has apertures 74, 76 which are located over the wearer's eyes in use. A heating core comprises a flexible insulating lamina 50 threaded with resistance wire 52 and stitched between flexible insulating layers 60, 62 and outer flexible layers 80, 82, the metal foil lamina being placed between an insulating layer 60 and an outer layer 80 on the side of the heating element which in use is nearest the face. Alternatively, an insulating lamina of polyethylene terephthalate on which a track of carbon compound resistance material is painted to form a heating element, is secured by adhesive between insulating sheets and outer flexible layers. The heating core is covered on one or both sides by flexible laminµ to reduce the amount of heat applied to the face or radiated outwardly as described in the parent Specification.
