Check valves.-A spring-pressed disk check valve 10, Fig. 7, particularly for use with blowing-engines and compressors, is provided with a turned-up edge 13 to engage the lowest convolution of the spring 18. A second disk 15 with a beaded edge 17 holds the upper coil of the spring. A leaf spring 22 may be provided to cushion the valve. Fig. 1 shows a valve having two series of annular ports 5, 6 covered by a disk valve 10 having a turned-up edge 13 to engage the lowest coil of the spring 18. The upper disk 15 which is formed with turned-over portions 17 to engage the upper coil of the spring 18, is also provided with a flange 15<1> serving as a stop to limit the motion of the valve. A leaf spring 22 may also be provided to cushion the valve. The spring holder 15 and valve seat 4 may be connected by pillars 23 surrounded by springs 24, 25 also adapted to cushion the valve. Fig. 10 shows a further modification having three series of ports. The top disk 15 is in this case provided with a recess 17<1> for receiving the end coil of the spring, the valve plate having turned-up hooks 13<1> for engaging the lowest coil of the spring. The valve seat 4 and disk 15 are connected by a bolt 23', which in the case of large valves may serve to guide the valve disk. In all the modifications, the central aperture in the valve disk is considerably larger than the pillar 30 so as to avoid friction.
