Abstract

19,119. MendizÔbal, C., and Bertrand, M. Aug. 25. Fixed-abutment type; governing and regulating motors and pumps; priming-arrangements; adjusting parts for wear.-The capacity of engines and pumps of the outwardly-sliding vane type is varied by adjusting the position of the inlet and outlet ports relative to the working chambers, the principle of the device being similar to that described in Specification 20,143/10, [Class 102 (i), Pumps &c.]. A geometrical construction is described for tracing the inner contour of the casing h, whereby three working chambers b, c, dare formed, all diameters through the centre of the rotor being equal. The radially-sliding vanes f are connected in pairs by rods differentially screwed to compensate for wear. Inlet and outlet ports k, i, j, l, m, n are formed in one or both end covers of the casing, and by rotating these covers relatively to the working chambers the capacity of these may be varied from a maximum flow in one direction to a maximum in the reverse direction. A vacuum is employed to prime the apparatus for starting. The invention may be employed for regulating the speed of a rotary motor fed by a rotary pump.
