Abstract

18,241. Bilard, A., and Touiller, P. J. L. Aug. 11. Four-stroke-cycle engines. - In an engine having revolving cylinders parallel to a central rotating shaft and driving through wheels f which gear with a stationary wheel g in the framing h, distribution is controlled by a stationary conical-seated valve j having ports which open into passages i<1> in the cylinder heads. The valve is held to its seat by adjustable springs j<1>, and is prevented from rotating by a stop j<3>. To prevent unequal wear of the cylinders, cavities d<2> in the pistons contain lubricating-oil, the pressure of which is stated to counteract the effects of centrifugal force. Cylinders, cooling.-Air is induced through passages h<2>, i<2> and circulated by centrifugal force. A casing surrounds the cylinders to direct the air currents.
