Abstract

Actuating.-In a device for operating valves and electric switches by a falling weight 6 supported by one end of a trip lever 7, the other end of which is held under the usual finger-piece 8 of the winding-arbor of the alarm mechanism of a clock, the flexible connexion 3 is arranged to pass over pulleys 4, 5 with a certain amount of slack, and by means of a small jockey pulley 11 and weight 10 a sudden jerk is imparted to the valve when the operating-weight is released. The device is stated to be applicable to hydrocarbon and acetylene gas plants.
