Projectile fuses.-Relates to percussion fuses provided with two or more firing-pins pointing in different directions so that the shell may be exploded whatever be its position at the moment of impact, and consists in connecting the percussion caps together and holding them at safe until discharge. In the form shown in Figs. 1 and 2, opposite percussion caps d, d<1> are connected together by rods f, and are locked by half-rings i which are opened out by springs k and by centrifugal force when powder plugs l have burnt out a short time after the projectile is fired from the gun ; the powder l is ignited by the time fuse. In the form shown in Fig. 3, several firing-pins t mounted in ball-and-socket joints are used, and their percussion caps are combined into a single one q held at safe by pins u and powder plugs v.
