4050. Rheinische Metallwaaren-und Maschinenfabrik. April 24, 1911, [Convention date]. [Addition to 4978/09.] Projectiles. - Relates to shrapnel shell of the kind described in the parent Specification, in which an incendiary charge is carried in the nose and is ignited from the same fuse as the main charge which projects the head of the projectile. The present invention consists in combining with the incendiary charge e a high explosive charge i substantially similar to that described in Specification 12,066/06. The latter charge is fired through the intermediary of the charge e, and effects the disruption of the head. A smoke-producing charge k may also be provided to indicate the point of disruption of the head l.
