Abstract

Cash registers with operating-means. - Relates to multiple-drawer cash registers operated by means of a weighted or spring-controlled lever as described in Specification 4543/03, and consists in improved latching and unlatching mechanism for the drawers and interlocking- mechanism for the main handle. The bolts 84 for latching the drawers are pivoted to arms 82 loose on a shaft 83, each having a spring-controlled pawl with a projection 81 adapted to be thrust over a universal bar 51, which is raised by its carrying frame 52 engaging a sliding block 46 which is drawn forward at each operation of the machine by the weighted yoke 6. The appropriate pawl 81 is selected by one of a series of staggered pins 80 on a cylinder gearing with a segment 75 set by the clerks' keys. The main handle is held against the action of the weighted yoke 6 by a latch lever 26, which is thrown forward by a lever 31 actuated bv a spring-controlled detent plate 34 when this has been allowed to drop by the depression of a clerks' key freeing a pin 39 on the plate. A spring 9 is fitted between the hand lever and the differential yokes 7, which operate the register. An extension 54 of the frame 52 releases the depressed keys.
