931,679. Calculating-apparatus. OLYMPIA WERKE A.G. Aug. 16, 1961 [Aug. 30, 1960], No. 29571/61. Class 106 (1). In a ten-key calculating-machine the differential actuators 21 are carried on the pin carriage 11, are released in turn by depression of the keys and slide on shaft 13 which is raised to bring the actuators into engagement with totalizer pinions 22 on their being returned by a reciprocating bar 43. Depression of a key 1 valued 0 to 8 causes an extension 8 of the key shank to depress a pin 10 into the path of a corresponding actuator 21. The extension 8 also acts on an arm 19, pivoted on shaft 18, which is caused to depress a pin 16 disengaging it from stop 17 and permitting the pin carriage to move one column to the left under the action of a spring (not shown). Actuators 21 are held forward by arms 34 of latch members urged anticlockwise by compression springs 36. A latch member is released by the action of a depressed pin 16 on an arm 32. When the " 9 " key is operated only pin 16 is depressed and the actuator 21 takes up a position with the end 24 of the slot by which it slides on shafts 13 and 28 abutting shaft 28. For repeated addition rotation of a shaft 40 causes a bar 38 to hold the latches 32 out of engagement with the actuators 21. The pin carriage 11 moves on shafts 12 and 13. There is a crowding lock comprising balls 7.
