Adding and subtracting apparatus; multiplying and dividing apparatus; attachments and connexions to typewriters.-Relates to the combination, with a typewriter of known construction, of a calculating-machine as described in Specification 136,628, with or without a mechanism for adding and subtracting as described in Specification 136,629, and in which the tabulating-keys and numeral keys of the typewriter are so disposed that they will operate the denominational selecting-keys and numeral keys respectively of the calculating-machine, but unless a tabulating- key has been depressed, and thereby the corresponding denominational selecting-key which renders the machine '' alive," the depression of a numeral key will have no effect in the calculating- mechanism; it is thus possible to use the numeral keys freely for the purpose of writing matter in respect of which no calculation is required. As shown in Fig. 2, the typewriter has studs DD which rest on a plate EE on top of the calculating- machine, and is provided with a series of tabulating-keys AA, five of which are marked with values and are adapted to operate through the projections AA<2> the denominational selecting-keys A of the calculating-machine; the numeral keys BB, BB<x> are eleven in number and correspond with the numeral keys B, B<0> of the calculating-machine, which are operative to feed items into the machine as and to the extent determined by the preliminary depression of a denominational selecting-key. Operating by motors. - The main operating- mechanism is as described in Specification 136,629 referred to above. To the gear-wheel t<5> is pivotally attached a connecting-rod VV, the other end of which is pivotally connected to the projecting pin V<6> of a lever V<2> which operates as described in Specification 136,628.
