12,556. Linotype & Machinery, Ltd., [Mergenthaler Setzmaschinen-Fabrik Ges.]. May 24. Keyboards for type-bar making machines. In machines of the kind in which a number of magazine channels are provided with matrices of the same character, the escapements are controlled by independent keys, and a special key is provided which operates all the escapements in a regular sequence. In the form shown, three independent keys 2, 3, 4 operate the escapements of three matrix channels in the usual manner, and a special key 22 operates all three in turn by means of a switch. The switch consists of three disks 18 having staggered cams 25, which engage adjustable screws 26 carried by projections 27 on the key rods 4<a>, 5, 6. The disks are carried on a shaft 16, which is rotated by means of a weighted pawl 23 and ratchetwheel 21 each time the special key is depressed.
