10,108. Saunders, C. April 26. Force-freed lubricators.-A fixed lubricating- pump for the axles of colliery wagons, corves, trams, trucks, &c. is operated by the treads and flanges of passing wheels. The treads e of the wheels depress tappet plates f projecting from one or both rails, the tappet plates being connected by bars h, g to the plunger i of the pump a. The plates f are pressed upwards by springs and guided by studs. The pump has an outlet j on one or both sides, provided with ball and telescopic joints k, l; the pipe j is bent upwards at m and passes through a slot n in a sliding plate c, terminating in a delivery nozzle. The wheel flange d engages a flange o on the plate c, thereby bringing the nozzle s into engagement with an oil-inlet in the axle of the vehicle. The nozzle is then carried along while the pipe m traverses the slot n, and is then released, the parts being returned to their original position by springs t, t'. The pump a may be placed under the tappet plate f and be actuated directly by it, and a separate pump may be placed under each rail, or the pump may be on the outside of the track. The nozzle s may have a spring-pressed valve opened by pressure against the axle.
