A railway and tramway rail and wheel flange lubricator, of the kind adapted for mounting on the track and comprising a reservoir for lubricant and lubricant-feeding means operated by the passage along the track rails of one or more vehicles, is provided with means for re-charging the reservoir, comprising a manually-operable pump detachable from a removable lubricant container, the charging of the reservoir being effected by periodical manual operation of the pump. In the arrangement shown, the lubricator is of the type described in Specification 610,637, comprising a reservoir 10 containing a weighted spring-pressed piston and adapted to be resiliently supported from the rail, the vibrations of the rail, on passage of a vehicle, being utilized for feeding the lubricant to the side of the rail head. A connection 17 is made at the base of the reservoir to one end of a flexible pipe 18, the other end of which is connected to the delivery port of a manuallyoperable rotary pump 20. The pump is mounted on a detachable lid 21 of a container 23 into which extends a pipe 24 connected to the inlet port of the pump. By rotation of the handle, lubricant is fed to the reservoir 10. The lid 11 of the reservoir may have an opening through which can be inserted a dip-stick 28. The invention may be applied to other types of lubricators, for example to a lubricator having one or more plungers operated positively by the wheels of the passing vehicles or by the vertical deflection of the rail.
