Counters actuated by revolving-mechanism; snap-action; transfer mechanism.-Relates to odometers and revolution-counters in which dials are provided with three concentric scales and a pointer to each scale, the pointers being interconnected by gearing having ratios which are multiples of ten. Special gearing is provided by which motion of the mechanism to which the apparatus is applied may be transmitted to the counter. A spindle d connected to the driving- device has a worm e gearing with a worm-wheel f carrying a heart-shaped cam g. This cam engages a pin on one end of a lever i, the other end of which has an escapement nose k to engage teeth l on an escapement wheel m. The axle of the wheel m carries the units hand. A spring-pressed detent n has its end so shaped that it retains the wheel m when the lever i has moved the wheel part of a one-tooth space. When the lever i moves to disengage the wheel m, the detent n, is pressed by its spring to move the wheel m in an anti-clockwise direction through the remainder of the one-tooth space. A toothed wheel r is advanced at each revolution of the wheel m by means of a tooth q thereon. The wheel r is geared to a wheel t, the axle of which carries the hand v indicating tens. A third hand z, indicating hundreds, is driven through toothed wheels from the axle of the wheel t. The wheel r may be locked by a lever r' which is released by a snail wheel m<1> on the wheel m.
