Cigarette-making appliances. - A tobacco receptacle is combined with a cigarette-making appliance, or it may be arranged to be interchangeably connected either with its own lid or with the cigarette-making appliance. In the form shown in Fig. 20, the receptacle 1 is provided with an offset 2 connected by a funnel to a forming-tube 3. A hood 20 is adapted to cover the tube 3, and is provided with a plate 17 to close the tube, the hood when extended serving to catch the discharged cigarette and loose tobacco. The plunger 5, having a head 15, is arranged to slide in a pivoted disk 8, Fig. 1, covering a slot 7 which permits the plunger 5 to be moved laterally to feed the tobacco from the receptacle to the offset 2. In a modification, the slot 7 may be replaced by a straight slot which is covered by an endless apron, through one face of which the plunger passes. The plunger is provided with an indent 16 to indicate when the tube 3 is filled and is fitted with a handle 14 which is adapted to lock into the head 6 of the receptacle. If desired, a plate may be pivoted to cover the end of the tube 3 and a separate slide or plate may be provided which, when extended, serves to catch the cigarette. Fig. 22 shows a frame 41 carrying the offset 2 and cigarette-forming tube 3 and attached to a pouch 40. Fig. 24 shows a receptacle having a lid 62 fitted thereto by means of groove guides 58 and depressions and buttons 60, 66. The lid may be replaced by a lid 62<a>, Fig. 29, carrying the cigarette-making appliance. The hood 20 is adapted to be clipped in position as shown. Disruptible seals such as the diaphragm 24, Fig. 1, may be arranged to render the device airtight till it is used. Strips 23 are provided to hold cigarette papers or matches.
