Abstract

6114. Petter, E. W. March 11. Tappet - actuated pumps; speed, varying. -In engines using lowgrade liquid - fuel in which the fuel pump b is worked by a tappet c under the control of an inertia governor c, e, the tappet lever a is worked by a cam d having a secondary swell d<1> which moves the plunger b rapidly after the tappet has completed that portion of its stroke wherein deflexion may be caused by this governor. Where the engine is required to be reversible, the secondary cam-face is made symmetrical about the eccentric radius.
