Abstract

5805. Houghton, M. J. March 8. Grates. - A front extension-piece is so constructed that it may be readily fitted to an existing fire-grate of ordinary type having a removable front. It is shown secured to the grate B by the hooks C<5>, which are adjustably mounted in slots in lugs C<3> of the extension-piece and engage the bars of the grate. The abutment legs C<2> rest against the front of the grate. Two adjustable end pieces C<6> may be provided, as shown in Fig. 3, to enable the extensionpiece to be fitted to a grate with splayed sides. Adjustable hooks may be provided to engage the vertical recesses in the grate from which the front bars have been removed.
