Abstract
2762. Taylor, L. B., and Sanders, F. Feb. 3. Gun cartridges. - Consists in making cartridges, especially rimless ones, with a thick end or with a square shoulder in the place of the usual ogee shoulder to form a stop to limit with precision the distance the cartridge is inserted in the firing-chamber of the gun. The shoulder c or thick end b may be formed by the material of the cartridge case, as in Figs. 4 and 7, or by a ring d, as in Figs. 3<A> and 6<A>. The bore of the cartridge case may be uniform, or may have the usual constriction at the front end. The base of the case may be screwed to the tubular body, in a known manner, as shown in Fig. 10.
