Abstract

1710. Leader, H. Jan. 23. [Cognate Application, 4816/11.] Window frames, -Relates to methods of jointing metal sash-bars. In the arrangement shown in Figs. 1 and 2, a bar 2 of T-section, having its flanges cut away at the joint, is passed through a slot in a larger bar 1 of T, I, or other section, and is dropped into position with its flanges on a level with the flanges of the larger bar, the joint being made secure by means of a wedge 5. The bar 2 is rolled with a channel 7 to facilitate the removal of the flanges, and the bar 1 is formed with ribs 6 to hold putty more securely. In the modification shown in Fig. 5, the bar 9 is turned sideways and passed through a correspondingly-shaped slot 11 in the web of the bar 8; the portions 10 of the web and flange of the bar 9 being cut away, and an enlargement 11<a> being made in the slot 11 to enable the bar 9 to be turned up into position.
