Abstract
1674. Stark, J. M., and Turner, T. L. May 21, 1910. Capsules, applying.-Capping-heads provided with pivoted jaws 10 operated by a sliding collar 13 have spring-pressed plungers 18 to engage the sliding collar towards the end of the stroke so as to put on the final pressure gradually. A part 4 which engages the top of the capsule is pivoted at 6 so as to swing easily in all directions and the whole head is resiliently mounted on screws 9 provided with springs. The sliding collar is operated by a lever 20 which is mounted on a pivot 21 which can be adjusted by a screw 23 to accommodate slight variations in bottle necks. The head is adjustable by a screw and nut 17.
