Abstract
1388. Gosling, A. Jan. 19. [Cognate Application, 1894/11.] Reflexed - flow type; combined - flow type; nozzles; regutating; reversing; working - fluid supply.-In a turbine of the reflexed-flow type having axial jets, the pockets o in the rotor parts e and in the stator parts f are formed by inclined partitions so that the working-fluid follows a path made up of smooth curves. It passes from the nozzles m through the first rotor pockets, then through the first stator pockets, over the edge of the first rotor and into the second rotor as shown. The stator partitions may project from the stator. The exhaust steam from such a turbine may be further expanded in a Parsons' or other reaction turbine. The diverging nozzles mare formed by the central part l and a ring s. The ring s may be dispensed with. Two similar turbines may be placed end to end, in which case one part may be used for reversing, or for overload working. The nozzles m are fed by passages g, h, each set of passages being under the control of a multiple-ported valve such as that described in Specification 8782/05. Some of the nozzles may be supplied with steam, and the others with combustion products.
