Abstract
28,869. Ellis, H. R. Dec. 12, Spring wheels with continuous outer rigid ring and pneumatic and like cushions.-Inner and outer rims are fitted with overlapping brackets D, E<1>, Figs. 1 and 2, enclosing cushions such as solid or hollow india-rubber balls F. Each series of brackets is arranged with members alternately on each side of the rim, so that the wheel is laterally self-supporting. In the forms shown in Figs. 5 and 6, rings or cylinders of elastic material G, G<1>, are fitted to exclude dirt. In Fig. 7, cups are screwed into the brackets, and locked by engagement of a spring catch d<4> with projections d<6>. In figs. 9 and 10, the brackets of one series are all on one side, and lateral security is obtained by additional brackets K connected by chains k. In Fig. 11, the elastic cushions are replaced by rocking bars L.
