Abstract

27,576. Hudson, E., and Hudson, W. S. Nov. 26. Vehicle-axle bearings.-An axle bearing for mining tip-wagons, trucks, &c. comprises a block a clamped by bolts m between the sides of an inverted U-shaped bracket e bolted to the side member g of the wagon. A packing-strip k, inserted between the block a and one side of the bracket e, may be moved to the opposite side of the block to compensate for wear if the face n of the block a becomes worn by friction of the wheel boss. A guard m<1> encircling the axle b is secured by the bolts m. An oil pocket c in the block a is approached through a hole o in the bracket. In a modification, the bracket e is made long enough to support the bearings of two axles.
