Lighting burners by electric devices.-A miner's safety lamp, lit by the passage of a low-voltage current through platinum or other material, is connected to a storage battery by a covered wire g, Fig. 2<A>, having contacts e', e<2> at each end, one pair of contacts being connected to the terminals of the lamp, and the other pair engaging the open ends c<1>, Fig. 2, of two tubes c connected to the terminals of the battery. The tubes extend transversely across and near the top of the battery, and their open ends c<1> are flush with the case of the battery. An ordinary electric lamp may be connected to the other ends of the tubes.
