Locating sounds. - A number of receiving microphones are p r ovided with horn-shaped sound - collectors pointing in different directions in the air, and are placed in circuit to operate indicators. The microphone element consists of a metal strip A<2> mounted on the ring H', and another strip A<1> mounted on the glass diaphragm A. The contact is adjusted by the differential screw H<7>. Each microphone is arranged in a system of connexions with a differential relay which brings a magnet into circuit when the microphone is actuated. The relay releases a stop from a frictionallydriven wheel which forms the indicator. In another form of apparatus, the microphones are mounted so as to be rotated together until the line between them is perpendicular to the direction from which the sound comes. The microphones are, in this system, placed in opposite arms of a bridge system. The Provisional Specification also describes an indicating-system in which the diaphragms carry mirrors from which a ring of light is reflected, a disturbance in the ring thus showing the position of a diaphragm which is receiving sound-waves.
