Abstract

25,848. Schloss, M. W. Nov. 7. Powder puffs. - Consists in so mounting powder puffs upon the covers of boxes, bottles, tubes, or other receptacles that they are held within the covers when these are in position on the receptacles, but are protruded for use when the covers are removed. The puff 11, Fig. 1, is attached to a plate 9 carried by a spring 7, the upper end of which is preferably held in a groove 6 in the cover 3. The spring may be provided with a cross-bar 8, and a flexible thread 13 may be used to prevent the plate 9 from being forced completely out of the cover. In a modification, the puff is attached directly to the spring, and the cover has a shoulder to retain the spring within it. When a collapsible tube is used, the mouth of the tube is preferably bevelled at 23, Fig. 5, leaving a flat annular surface 24. In another modification, the puff-holding plate is recessed at 25, Fig. 6, and provided with an annular washer 27.
