Abstract

[Cognate Applications, 26,018/10 and 5043/11.] Hubs. - Hook-shaped clutch members A, Fig. 1, are formed in a flange on the permanent hub, and are shaped to take into recesses in a plate D on the detachable hub so as to engage dogs on the inner face of the detachable hub, which is secured axially by the partial rotation of a locking-ring L with projections M which take under the overhanging edges of the clutch members A. The ring L may be formed on and rotated by a sleeve G, screw-threaded into the inner hub-plate D; or it may be a loose ring, Fig. 15, operated by a slotted crank-pin P acting on a pin o carried by the ring and passing through a slot in the hub-plate D, the clutch members C in this case being also formed of hook-shape. The faces of the projections M may be formed with cam-surfaces, and the locking-ring is retained in its operative and inoperative positions by spring - pressed bolts carried by the detachable hub engaging holes therein.
